GBBF, from London the outcome for italian ales

From the 1st to 5th August 2006 it took place the GBBF, Great British Beer Festival www.gbbf.org in London, exactly in Earl's Court, with the biggest range of Real Ale of the world. This annual edition of the GBBF has got a very big crowd of visitors. Let see the interview to Lorenzo Dabove, best known as Kuaska [www.kuaska.it], the biggest taster of beers in Italy and Cultural Manager of Unionbirrai [www.uniobirrai.com]

Lorenzo Dabove, Kuaska [Yellow Shirt]

Lorenzo, what are your impressions about this year GBBF?

It has been an incredible edition for the great number of visitors (66.583!), thanks also to the new location, bigger than last years and more easy to reach.

What about Italian Craft Breweries?

Our beers obtained a fantastic success thanks to the great job started more than 5 years ago (GBBF 2000). Everybody was actracted first from the bottles shapes and further they really appreciated the content. During the event, I wasn't just a tasting tutor and a barman, but I gave 8 interviews, six to european televisions (Euronews, ITV, La 7, RAI 2, the TV Russian and a local London TV), one to an English dedicated newspaper to the Made in Italy and one to a radio of English Network. One of these was dedicated to Lambic and all the others were focused on italian beers.

Kuaska's interwiews during GBBF

Did italian beers had any problems after the long way to London?

Ales were all in perfect conditions and they has all been selled even if they were more expensive than the others (7 puonds).

The best seller has been the Re Ale of Birrificio del Borgo [For more details], wich was absolutely fantastic, and the second one was  Panil Barriquée of Birrificio Panil [Our Interview] very appreciated and Nora of Baladin [Our Interview], a very masterpiece in freshness and originality.

Selled like hot cakes Grado Plato's Beers [Our Interview] with Strada San Felice wich estonished everybody (an unbelievable chestnut beer 8°) and with Melissa, wich women liked particularly but also men appreciated. A big bravo to Sergio Ormea and his son Gabriele for their fantastic Sticher.

Nobody never seen a grapefruit beer, and IPA Scarampola impressed positively who tasted it. The ShangriLa of Birrificio Troll [Our Interview] cut affine figure with its incredible Himalaya's spices.

A good result also for the already known to GBBF, Ghisa of  Birrificio Lambrate, arrived just on thursday.

Italian Ales at GBBF 2006

A little outline to this edition waiting for the 2007 one.

I wanna underline that our "Belgian, Dutch, Italian Bar" didn't has the time to finish the festival cause everything was finished before. I have a strange feeling with this festival, cause during the event I can't wait till the Saturday (Last Day of GBBF) but some hours after the turn off, I already feel homesick.
